Community Partnership

Hack the Hood

Hack the Hood is rallying the Oakland community to support women, Black, Latinx, and AAPI-owned small businesses looking to rebuild and grow their businesses post-COVID via the use of technology.

About the Partnership

This Oakland Small Business Month, Hack the Hood is rallying the Oakland community to support women, Black, Latinx, and AAPI-owned small businesses looking to rebuild and grow their businesses post-COVID via the use of technology. Hack the Hood will create a community of support, bringing 18 promising small business owners together for a month of peer networking, learning, and capacity-building.

Each small business owner will be paired with a business coach from Hack the Hood’s network of community volunteers. These coaches will provide four hours of 1:1, personalized coaching on topics such as branding, marketing, business planning, and sales. In addition, Hack the Hood is partnering with Wix, JPMorgan Chase, Square, LegalZoom, and NextGen Policy to provide four free interactive workshops on topics such as business planning, ecommerce, web development, and legal 101.
