Part-time Grant Associate

Overview:
NextGen Policy is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and self-starting Grant Associate to work with the Finance and Accounting team to administer and manage federally funded grant projects. This position supports the full lifecycle of grant management, with a strong emphasis on subaward and subrecipient financial oversight. A strong candidate will be detail-oriented, possess outstanding organizational and customer service skills, and have a working knowledge of accounting and familiarity with the regulations of Federal Uniform Guidance for Federal Awards . This is an hourly position requiring approximately 10-15 hours per week. Compensation will be based on candidate qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Oversight:
- Work with key administrative and program staff to financially monitor partners, subrecipients and contractors.
- Review subrecipient invoices and supporting documentation for compliance with federal grant requirements.
- Provide feedback to subrecipients based on financial review.
- Present financial findings to the Finance and Accounting team.
- Further enhance finance and accounting operations as well as policies and procedures as needed.
- Financial Reporting:
- Work with grant partners to ensure all financial reports are accurate, comply with policies and procedures, and are submitted on time.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to federal grants.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Assist with the annual audit.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain comprehensive and organized records of all grant-related financial transactions.
- Ensure proper documentation of all expenditures and financial activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills
- Background in or knowledge of finance and accounting
- Familiarity with Uniform Guidance for Federal Awards regulations
- Strong aptitude for math
- Strong analytical skills and some experience in financial modeling
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
- Ability to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality
- A good sense of humor and the ability to be flexible
- Comfortable working remotely in a highly collaborative distributed workforce setting
